Credits Due

Do you know if your contributions are accurately reflected within the value chain? Are you being credited externally for your work? If you have missing or incorrect metadata attached to your work, you could be losing out on significant income.

Credits Due

Björn Ulvaeus launched Credits Due at The Ivors 2021 to advocate for higher global metadata standards and stronger systems, so you’re paid what you’re due. The initiative has gathered backing from over 75 organisations representing songwriters, performers, PROs, and DSPs.

Credits Due aims to solve two fundamental problems in the industry: to ensure complete and accurate song metadata is attached to all recordings at the point of creation, and to raise the profile of songwriters by ensuring they are publicly credited for their work.

By understanding what data matters, you can ensure the right information is in the system at the right time – so you receive the royalties and credit you deserve.

Only five essential data points are required:

  1. Creator identifiers and role codes (IPI, IPN and ISNI)
  2. Musical work identifier (ISWC)
  3. Recording identifier (ISRC)
  4. Song title and alternative song titles
  5. Names of the writer, performer, producer and contributors

Linking this metadata to all new recordings and songs will ensure that all creators and contributors receive proper identification and credit.
