The Ivors with Amazon Music is among the most respected award ceremonies in music. Presented by The Ivors Academy, it celebrates the craft and exceptional achievements of songwriters and screen composers.
Winners receive an iconic Ivor Novello Award and join a roll call of greats, including Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Adele, RAYE, Stormzy, Cathy Dennis, Bruce Springsteen, Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, Dave, Sting and Joan Armatrading. Judged by songwriters and composers, for songwriters and composers, the awards recognise excellence in craft and creativity.
In its 70th edition, Ivor Novello Awards will be presented to honour songs and scores written by UK and Irish songwriters and composers, released in the UK in 2024, that demonstrate exceptional originality, skill and impact. Gift of the Academy Awards will be presented to honour sustained contributions to music and global achievements.

The Rising Star Award with Amazon Music discovers, supports, and accelerates the careers of exceptional under-25 songwriters. Each songwriter receives an Ivor Novello Award nomination and tailored year-long support for their creativity and careers from Amazon Music and The Ivors Academy.
This year’s winner will be announced at the 70th edition of these iconic awards on Thursday 22 May 2025.
Past winners are Master Peace, Victoria Canal, Naomi Kimpenu, Willow Kayne, and Mysie.
Bea Wheeler’s Business is writing killer songs – and business is very good indeed. The Londoner has built a formidable reputation for witty, unfiltered empowerment anthems such as “Safety Net” (“It’s your turn to lie in bed and listen to Adele”) and “Never Ever Love A Liar” (“I’m a chef’s kiss bitch, couldn’t you taste?”) that have put her in pole position to be Britain’s next breakout pop star. With lots more new music to come, Bea And Her Business are set to be booming this year.
Liang Lawrence had lived in eight different countries by the time she was 18 but, luckily, glorious indie pop songwriting is an international language. And Lawrence is certainly fluent; crafting songs that, in her own words, “tell stories in a way they haven’t been told before”. Hence, brilliant tunes such as “Eulogy” and “Kiss My Apocalypse”, that have been favourably compared to Phoebe Bridgers and drawn support from BBC Radio 1. Expect this global citizen to go worldwide soon.
In the wonderfully ubiquitous “Messy”, Lola Young delivered the UK’s biggest hit in a long, long time. But, in truth, Young’s songwriting has been on point throughout her route to the top, she’s just been waiting for the world to catch up. Shortlisted for the BRITs Rising Star in 2022, she’s been releasing music since 2019 and has built up an impressive catalogue of gems, which illustrate her knack for writing real, raw, relatable songs and mean “Messy” will surely be just the first of many global smashes.
While still only 21, LULU. – that full stop is deliberate – is already an important new voice in British music. Having learned to sing at church and initially come to prominence on TikTok, her style is for laidback Afrobeats earworms fused with a timeless-yet-modern soul sensibility. No wonder the likes of Yesterdays, Home and Never Done, all taken from debut EP Dear Disorientated Soul, have won support from key media outlets and even Elton John. LULU. is going places, period.
Fast-rising South Londoner Nia Smith describes songwriting as “a place where I can tell all my secrets”. And she has certainly mastered the art of the intimate, honest and yet usually uplifting confessional on songs such as “Personal”, “Don’t Cry” and “Give Up The Fear”. That authentic approach, plus her brilliant vocals, have already won her an army of fans and the professional admiration of A-list writers such as Jimmy Napes. Don’t expect her, or her songs, to remain secret for much longer…

Gift of the Academy Awards are chosen by the Awards Committee of songwriters and composers, a sub-committee of The Ivors Academy Board.

Anyone can enter The Ivors, including songwriters and composers submitting their own work, as long as the entries meet the eligibility criteria.
